2026 American Sign Language Art For Sale

Hey there, thanks so much for inquiring about our mixed media art, photography and family history of deafness and hearing loss.

 Our goal is a four fold purpose; 

We hope to do our best to help teach American Sign Language. Educate and advocate about D/deaf culture. 

Discuss hearing loss issues. 

 Be supportive to those who live life with multiple diffabilities. 

We feel that we can accomplish these things through our  various works of art. 

In the beginning, we were owners of Furbaby Haven doggie day care for the last 8 years, we started with Scavo Pet Sitting Services and a daily dog walking program in 2003. We took care of many furbabies in our neighborhood and business began to grow from there. After being closed due to the covid pandemic, and hurricane Ian, we hoped to reopen our doggie daycare by the fall season, that is when Terri got a severe foot injury. Finally on the mend now and learning to walk again, we still hope to reopen our doggie daycare someday.  

Since the 1940's, our family has always dealt with hearing loss. It began with our Great Grandmother, and Grandmother. Terri is late deafened (since November 2001) with some visual issues from Muckle Wells Syndrome. Joe, became hard of hearing at age 12 and benefits a lot from a Phonak BTE (Behind The Ear) Bluetooth hearing aid. Mom got a cochlear implant in 2015 after she noticed her BTE hearing aid was no longer helping.  We have a few relatives that are also hard of hearing and wear hearing aids.  

As the years passed, through social media,  we learned that many people have their varying beliefs about how to cope with hearing loss and deafness.  We have come to understand and respect each persons decision.  We hope to share our knowledge and information through this website and our art.

Our FREE beginners level for American Sign Language classes (May to September 2025) has closed until January 2027 We are so proud of our students accomplishments. Since we built this website we have had to send 4 of our cherished furbabies over the Rainbow Bridge. Each time was different because each furbaby was uniquely different.  

While we are still mourning, we are so proud to say that  our black and white Tuxedo cat, Parker Vader, survived to age 17. Our white and black cat, Storm Trooper, made it to age 18 and 1/2, even with daily diabetes insulin management. We miss their purring and comical antics they each had. We cherish our time with them, our "Star Wars" brothers. Maybe we will adopt another feline some day in the future.

Our reddish, brown and white, American Staffordshire Terrier, Romeo Clyde fought a brave battle of Cushing's disease near the end of his time with us. He survived until age 9. It was heart wrenching to try to save him as best we could. We learned how to administer CBD Hemp oil drops into his food to make him as comfortable as possible.  Two weeks passed and then we adopted Tyga Rigel, a brindle brown Staffy, similar to Romeo, from the same shelter. We gave him the middle name Rigel to honor and remember Romeo and for the white star fur marking on Tyga's chest. He was already 7 years of age but needed a lot of training, to help break his high prey drive. Patrick  L. of Bark Busters in Fort Myers, Florida helped us reach that goal during the covid pandemic shut down. It was as if Tyga became a whole new furbaby! It proved that anyone CAN teach an old dog new tricks from proper training techniques. Tyga was our love until the amazing age of 13!

As time goes on in life on this planet, we all grow older. This past July 2026, two weeks after Tyga crossed over the Rainbow Bridge, Terri, decided to adopt a smaller little love. Winnie Tanda is a Whiphund, a mix of a Dachshund and Whippet. At age 8 she is doing well settling in and learning all about deaf culture, hearing loss and sign language. 

With each gut wrenching heartache, saying see you later, there comes happiness in saying hello to a new soul, a soul that is full of unconditional love, wanting to be loved and to feel needed. Training a furbaby creates a tired furbaby and a tired furbaby is a happy furbaby. 

Furbabies have a way to comfort us humans like no medicine can. They help us to laugh by watching their comical antics, they get us up and moving to feed and play with them. Some of them can join us in our daily tasks. All of them help us take a break from the chaos of life.
